If you're anything like 93% of the world's population, then your mind immediately went into the gutter. That's okay if it did, but you won't be reading about erectile dysfunction in this post.
After visiting DerrellJamison.com, you would probably never guess that I am actually a relatively quiet person in real life. Some people would go as far as calling me a slight introvert but I'm okay with that label for the simple fact that it allows me to listen. I prefer to sit back and just listen to people rather than expend the brainpower it takes to actually come up with the conversation topics myself. You get to know people a whole hell of a lot better when you just listen to not only what they say, but also how they say it.
Case in point: ask someone what their life goals are and see how drained you feel after listening to their halfhearted list of mediocre answers. It's as if society has conditioned people to believe that they cannot get their hopes up. I have actually heard people say things like, "I'm afraid to have big dreams because I'll be more devastated if I never reach them". It's so sad to know for a fact that some of the greatest inventions and businesses will never see the light of day because the people that have these ideas are too afraid to get up and make something out of them.
Listen, I'm not trying to tell you how to live your life because I understand that we are all adults, living adult lives, making adult decisions. All I want to do is make you think. What are your dreams? What are you good at? How can you benefit the people that are around you or the world with the talents that God has placed within you? If you can answer any of these questions immediately without any hesitation then you either, A) Have your sh*t completely together or B) Need to stop being irrational and reevaluate your life's purpose.
Don't get me wrong, I can certainly understand the thought of being afraid to put yourself on the line because there is a persistent fear of failure when you start taking steps towards your dreams and aspirations. What I do not understand is why people let that fear deter them from even trying in the first place. In my eyes, every small success can erase the largest failure, but you'll never experience that if you never allow yourself to try.
If you haven't reached your peak and you aren't pushing yourself to be better than you are today, then I want you to think about why that's the case. Maybe you just need a swift kick in the nutts or ladyparts to get you redirected onto the right path or maybe you need to sit down and think of a real plan for your life. Whatever the case may be, go and do it.
Take my wife, Danielle, for example. She has these short bursts of
It won't be an easy road, but it will be worth it. *Warning*: you will be required to get up and get outside of your comfort zone because that area is where the majority of the opportunities for growth are found. And if you won't take my word for it, then take these:

Now that you are thinking about it, what are you actually going to do about it? What advice would you give to someone that wants to steer their life in another direction?
